Faces of Afghan Children
The ongoing political tensions, insecurity and rising food prices in Afghanistan have put the livelihoods of vulnerable families and children increasingly at risk. Many children are being displaced and food production has been disrupted. Child labor is an issue of growing concern in Afghanistan. Already, UNICEF estimated that 30 percent of children aged 5 to 14 are engaged in some form of work. But despite the difficulties facing Afghan children, some significant progress has been made, especially in the education sector.
